This is a 4 days on - 4 days off rota, working from 7PM - 7AM


How this role contributes to the success of Elite EMS


To prepare ambulance for operational duty to an agreed quality standard for the benefits of our patients and staff. This will include cleaning, decontaminating, stocking, safety/functional checks of on-board equipment (medical and non-medical) and vehicle roadworthiness checks.


To act autonomously to ensure the continuation of Make Ready Services within the area of responsibility to maximise the availability of our ambulances to deliver patient care.


To ensure that all general areas of the station are kept clean and tidy, utilising the station cleaning logs and best practice to ensure a high standard of infection prevention and control.

The role will involve shifts including working nights and weekends.



Main Tasks and Responsibilities


Vehicles and equipment are clean and ready to meet the stated daily operational requirements. This will include as a minimum:

  • The cleaning of the inside of the ambulance including all surfaces and equipment to an agreed Infection Prevention and Control Standard.

  • The decontamination of the inside of the ambulance including all surfaces and equipment to an agreed Infection Prevention and Control standard.

  • Cleaning the exterior of the ambulance.

  • The deep cleaning programme for vehicles is carried and recorded correctly to Elite EMS policy.

  • The correct scale of stocking of clinical equipment and consumables. This will include:

  • The correct levels of stock for the response bags, specialist pouches and equipment with particular attention to ensure all items are within their use by/service dates in accordance with the agreed clinically and operationally approved policies.

  • Ensuring accurate booking out of any stock and equipment and where required identifying items requiring ordering to ensure adequate stocks are maintained.

  • Use Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to ensure vehicles are at all times correctly stocked with equipment and consumables.

  • All make-ready quality standards set by Elite EMS are met.

  • The storeroom is adequately stocked and clean.

  • Any request for operational movement of vehicles and equipment is undertaken.

  • Plan and prepare ambulances to meet strict time deadlines and any other operational requirements.

  • If required, working at remote and satellite sites, this will be directed by Control or an appropriate manager.

  • A high level of sustained physical effort in the kitting, de-kitting, cleaning, and decontamination of vehicles.

  • To be competent in the use of specialist tools such as pressure washers, steam cleaners, fogging, and valeting equipment.

  • To assist Fleet services in maintaining the operational serviceability of the vehicle fleet by undertaking visual vehicle inspections and minor running repairs to the vehicles. Only when directed by Fleet or a manager.

  • Ability to self-manage workload and priorities without direct supervision.

Person Specification


Essential Education

Good general education background to include GCSE English & Maths at level 5 or above.


Essential Experience

  • Minimum of 2  years of driving experience.

  • Understanding of COSSH, Cleaning products legislations and requirements for safe road usage (training provided at employment).

  • Working in a fast-paced office environment.
